I’ve used my friends unit on my Subaru, he moved 3 hours away so I’ve been in the market for a scanner of my own that’s bi-directional, then I saw a Mechanic working at a used car dealership that gives their cars a 6 month Warrantee, She using this very same model. And that told me that as a shade tree mechanic this unit was probably as good as I could hope for!

The OTC Scanner is great, have no complaints. Good quality and feels good in the hand. One feature that I didn't expect was the "Charging System Monitor". When you start the vehicle it will report the condition of the battery, electric starter and alternator. The live data will let you analyze problems as they start to develop.

I haven't spe nt a lot of time with the device yet, but used it to read codes from a 2011 Mustang and 2001 Durango. It identified the vehicles, accurately read and translated/described the code definitions and cleared the codes as commanded. The cable and adapter set included in the kit for ODB1 vehicles has what I needed for my 1995 Dodge RAM and more. So far it seems to be a good OBD2/1 reader with a nice display and good on-screen instructions
