The steel is kind of soft compared to other tools I've used (channellock, proto, etc), small indent knick on the jaws from gripping metal. Do they work? absolutely they do. These are NOT the old school craftsman tool quality from years back, those days are long gone. It is what it is.........Standard cheap china tools. For me its just something inexpensive for a mobile junkyard tool kit. If the tools get lost or stolen, not a big loss. WOULD I BUY AGAIN.....maybe....if I need to build another inexpensive mobile/junkyard tool kit. EDIT - dang price went up from 19.99 to 26.99.......other better options at that price point.

Go spend some money and get a quality set. Craftsman Pro are a killer line of tools. Someone who needs some pliers a couple times a year to help out on something small? Yeah, these will be good. Dear lord the packaging. Does anyone remember 2003? When your new CD player came in a clamshell package, with your clamshell encased new set of headphones, and your CD encased in one of those oddly long record store display clamshells? Yeah, these are 10x worse than all of those combined. Not only is the outer clamped part ridiculously strong, once you do pop it open, it doesn't nicely peel open. It just breaks and you get to start again. Cut out all around the tool you want out? Too bad, there's probably a separate part in the middle holding it down. Get a nice long cut down the plastic and think you can pop all 5 out at the same time? Ha! They thought of that. There's these odd mini clamp-down button like things in the middle of the package that are stronger than the outer clamshell! Why would those even be there besides to frustrate the person buying your tools? Are cheap pliers that commonly stolen in 2018? I am not joking here. I spent at least 10 minutes cutting out each tool individually and trying not to slice my finger. If I had taken the reviews seriously, or known what this packaging entailed, I would have bought something else. If these tools go missing because I get burglarized, I would never buy these again purely because of the packaging. I would gladly pay more for one of Amazon's hassle free packaging options. I am not joking here. Seriously. Go find probably any other set of cheap pliers, because this packaging is worse than being in the middle of chopping up an entire plate of spicy peppers and rubbing your eye without wiping your hands. Pretty sure these are counterfeit. I ordered a "Homeowners" kit that came a few days later. It is a completely different green and these are missing the embossed logo on the rubber part of the handles l ike the tools that showed up in the kit. The rubber is noticeably different as well.

These aren't Craftsman as you know Craftsman. I'm sure there is a market for this type of tool however if you are thinking that you are buying Craftsman quality when you select these, and know what to expect from Craftsman, then you will be disappointed. I originally scored this a 1 however they seem to be better than some brands out there. Spend the extra money and get the original Craftsman while they are still pretty decent.

When I finally got them all out, all of them feel solid except for the groove-joint "water pump" pliers. Go figure.

Handles are very nice, no flex in the metal when cutting something hard or griping a broken nail head and removing it. I like that I can use a sharpy to put my initials on them and its permanent. lots of tool borrowing and sharing in my garage, so everything gets my initials and there is no confusion at the end of a project.
